An extra meeting of Priddy Parish Council was held on December 22nd 2010. The main purpose was to discuss and for the village councillors to take a vote on the Underbarrow Farm application. The hunt was invited to the meeting to air its point of view. The meeting attracted a number of speakers from the public who mostly offered objections to the proposal. There was no representative from the hunt, nor any statement or information offered from them. None of the councillors declared an interest of any sort in the matter and after some discussion they voted.
Councillors Robin Maine and Sharon Sparkes voted in favour of the application. Councillors Tina Bath and Indra Cotton voted against. There were four councillors present, so the Chairperson Indra Cotton cast the deciding vote. Priddy Parish Council voted against the proposal. Interestingly we heard today that the other planning application that the hunt had been pursuing in Chewton Mendip has been withdrawn, apparently due to pressure from higher places, this puts the focus firmly back on Priddy. Happy Christmas Chewton. |
