Had we inadvertently applied for a nuclear power station, a ribbon development of brothels, an open-cast mining site?... In making that application, we have followed due planning process to the letter. We asked for the open meeting you reported last week. Like hundreds of others I was disappointed that the key points of the hunt's arguments went unreported. I am disgusted that Mendip Hunt is planning to site kennels just along the road from my home in Coles Lane, Chewton Mendip, without having the common decency to consult me I don't want the kennels because of the extra traffic that would be generated on the narrow lane outside my bungalow, which is totally unsuitable for such an increase. ThisIsSomerset 27.5.10 Lord joins villagers in hitting out against hunt kennels plan - Members of Mendip Farmers' Hunt faced a barrage of criticism on Monday night against its plans for kennels and a flesh house on the edge of Chewton Mendip. More than 150 people packed into the village hall to confront hunt masters about the plans which have been widely criticised by locals many of them hunt supporters who felt the villagers' opinions and feelings had not been sought or considered in the making of the application. There was also vocal support for the hunt from a small group of kennel staff and hunters. The meeting heard from Lord Waldegrave, who allows the hunt to use part of the estate, and whose land borders the site. He said there had been little consultation with the site neighbours, and he had only heard about the plans in recent weeks (story)

Bristol Evening Post 26.5.10 Calls for village to help preserve way of life.The attacks on the hunt caused supporters to speak out, with Sheila Williams demanding to know how many of the villagers objecting had visited the existing kennels, where she said they would see that the site was clean and the animals well cared for, with none of the smells or noise feared by the objectors Hunt master Rob Williams said: "I am a fox hunter and proud to be one. Two and half years after purchasing Underbarrow Farm in
Priddy to relocate their kennels, stables and flesh house, Mendip Farmers’ Hunt
applies for planning permission in Chewton Mendip. The fate of the 17 acres at
Underbarrow Farm is still unclear. 90% of the residents at Chewton Mendip are
said to NOT SUPPORT the application.
Emborough Parish Council approve the application.(10 to 6)
Chewton Mendip Parish Council vote against it (3 against and 1 abstention)

the council as it is missing vital information including the all-essential
‘Noise Impact Assessment’ and even the exact position.
